Schloß Neuschwanstein - Built upon Swan Rock, this was one of King Ludwig's castles. He was nicknamed the "Fairytale King". This is the castle that Walt Disney modeled the Cinderella Castle from.

This was taken from the castle.

Directional signs

You can pay and wait in a long line to ride up the huge steep hill in a horse and buggy. We have ridden up and walked up. Ridding is much better, especially if you have older people with you or those who may have medical issues.

Linderhof - This was Ludwig's Palace and where he spent most of his time and was the only one out of his three castles that he saw completed in his lifetime.

This is a fountain in the Main Fassade of the Royal Villa. It is a gilded group of Flora and her nymphs and it has a 30 meter high fountain.

This is the Southern Terraced Hill which has a marble statue of Venus. It is just beyond the pool with the fountain above.

This is the cascade waterfall at the rear of the palace which the water falls down the marble steps and end in a pool with the statue of Neptune.

Hoenschwangau Schloß - You can view this from Neuschwanstein. This castle belonged to Ludwig's father, Maximilian II.

Hohenschwangau Castle sits between the two lakes, Alpsee Lake and the Swan Lake.

This is a lake close to the castles....just had to take a picture!

Lake Eibsee very close to Garmisch.
