House #3 - Kitchen and Laundry

This is our kitchen. Straight ahead to the right left of the stove is the German refriderator. They usually look like a cabinet. They are not very big. You are issued an American fridge from FMO. You will see it in another photo.

This is the German fridge inside.........that is it. There is not even a freezer with it. Some do have a freezer I have been told, but this one doesn't.

This picture is of the stove/oven.

Here is a closer veiw of the oven............mmmm, wanna cook a turkey??

So, you can see the American fridge that is loaned to us by FMO. They are not the biggest in the world, but they will do. To the left of the fridge you see two trash cans. These are what we use for recycling. You have to recycle in Germany. These overflow about once a day. Paper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum foil or cans, glass, milk cartons......etc.

This is the laundry room. There is tons more room in here....it is the same size as the kitchen. I deleted the other photo and am too lazy to go upstairs and take it again, sorry. We have an American washer and dryer that FMO will loan you. They will loan you American ones, or German ones, just depending on what your house will accomodate. Some houses are not set up for hot water for the washer. The German washers heat their own water. I have heard that they also don't hold many clothes and they take a long time to run a cycle. On base, you get American W/D. We already had the "over the w/d shelving unit". We bought the shelves that the clothes are hanging on here at the BX. The shelves you can barely see to the very right of the photo(they were in the other picture darnit), they are 5 shelves tall and we bought them at walmart before we moved. They are rubbermaid or something like that. We bought 4 of them........hmmm, should have bought more. We have 2 in the laundry room, 1 in our sons room (only 4 shelves high), and the other in the basement. You can always use the storage space. *A lot of times your laundry room will be in the basement. We lucked out because our home could be split into 3 apartments, so there is a potential kitchen on each floor. So they are equipt with water supplies that can be used for a sink, or a washer. So, we actually had our landlord move the faucets upstairs so that we could have the laundry room on the 2nd floor instead of the basement.
