Metz, France Photos

This is a picture of the Cathedral Saint-Etienne De Metz. What a beautiful city...

This is a post card areal veiw of the Cathedral. Some of the pictures here were taken on many different days. I have been to Metz 5 times. It is very close to Ramstein and is a great place to take visitors!

The rest are photos that I took.

This is the front view of the Cathedral. It is at the end of a street full of shops.

These carvings are just one small part of the detail that is displayed in the cathedral. What you are looking at is one of the entrances on the south side of the Cathedral. Our tour guide told us a story about every little detail that you see. It is amazing what everything means.

This is called the "Nave" and is taken from the back of the Cathedral. It is 42 meters high. Here there are 6500 sq meters of stained-glass windows. They light the architectural ensemble and make it one of the most luminous cathedrals in the world. Therefore there is no artificial lighting in the cathedral. Masses are held daily at the cathedral. They also offer guided tours of the cathedral, the Crypt and Treasury and of the Mutte tower. This was a remarkable place to visit.

The Cathedral is full of stained glass and it is all so pretty.

This is just one of the many churches in Metz. I thought that it was beautiful. This river runs through the city and is lined with houses. On another day, I actually saw a wedding at the church. What a dream. I also think that where the land comes to a point, right below the church pictured above is called "Lover's Point" or something to that nature.

This is just a view of the top of the cathedral taken by the river.

This is the Opera House in Metz. The river from the other pictures runs right in front of the Opera House.

This tower photo was taken out of our hotel window. I don't know what it is used for, I just thought it was pretty. Our hotel was just accross the street from the train station.
